Aufguss with Travis Talmadge

Aufguss is a European sauna ritual which involves sauna master using essential oil infused snowballs to deliver aromatherapy to a group. During an Aufguss, the sauna master uses a towel to distribute the aromatherapy to guests and also uses the towel to artfully bring heat from the top of the sauna down onto guests. There is a rich Aufguss culture throughout the world, and is even a World Championship that has grown increasingly popular in the last few years.

Travis Talmadge is a sauna master and the Co-Founder of Bathhouse in New York City. Bathhouse opened in 2019 and has two locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. They have the largest Aufguss program in the country, performing 14 Aufguss daily across the two locations. Travis leads the Aufguss program at Bathhouse and trains all of their Sauna Masters. He loves to use Aufguss as a platform to educate people on how to get the most out of contrast therapy. His sauna experience is always thoughtfully curated using music, aromatherapy and intended to deliver a transformative social experience. Travis is excited to bring a taste of Bathhouse’s Aufguss program to guests at the Hewing rooftop!
